Indian chess team recreates famous 'Rohit Sharma walk' after winning Olympiad

The men’s team defeated Slovenia in the final to clinch the medal, while the women’s team outclassed Azerbaijan to take Gold home.

Rohit Sharma and Co. created history in the West Indies on June 29 after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados. The celebration that followed after the win caught everyone’s attention as Rohit impersonated the famous walk of Messi from the FIFA World Cup. The same has been done by the Indian team at the 45th Chess Olympiad in Budapest.

The Indian men's and women’s teams made history by winning the Gold medals at the 45th Chess Olympiad. Both the teams replicated Rohit Sharma’s famous “Robotic Walk”. The video of the same is going viral on social media and is being shared widely. The men’s team defeated Slovenia in the final to clinch the medal, while the women’s team outclassed Azerbaijan to take Gold home.

Speaking of team India, they have started the Test series against Bangladesh on a high. They won the first Test played at Chennai by 280 runs. They will take on the visitors in the second Test at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur on September 19. On the back of Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill’s tons, India posted a humongous target of 515 in front of Bangladesh which they could not surpass.

The local boy R Ashwin was on a roll in the first Test as he scored a magnificent ton in the first innings and claimed six wickets in the second Innings to be rightfully adjudged as Player of the Match. This was Ashwin’s sixth Test ton and 37th Test fifer.
