India's one of the most legendary off-spin wizards, Ravichandran Ashwin celebrated his 38th birthday today (Tuesday) on September 17. Hence, it comes as no surprise that the Rohit Sharma-led side, who are currently in Chennai to prepare for the upcoming home Test series against Bangladesh, ensured to celebrate the special day.

Team India gathered in the dressing room and during the cake-cutting moment, the teammates smeared Ashwin's face after the ace spinner was done with the ceremony. In an image which is going viral on the internet, the talented wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant along with wrist legspinner Kuldeep Yadav joined forces to share the hilarious occasion. Both the cricket stars took to their respective social media handles to share the viral image in story mode.

Besides, the Indian team also sang a birthday song and showered benevolent wishes for Ashwin while he was cutting the chocolate cake just like his sharp spin skills. It seemingly looked like Pant brought out his notorious side and initiated the cake-smash move which triggered other players to join in the fun. Interestingly, Pant and Ashwin have shared a great bond since 2018, both on and off the cricket field.

Ashwin will play against Bangladesh at home on September 19

Meanwhile, speaking of the birthday boy, Ravichandran Ashwin made his Test debut for Team India back in November of 2011 against a spirited West Indies side. So far in the Test format alone, Ashwin has more than 500 victims to his name while when it comes to overall international tally, the Chennai-based offie has claimed over 700 wickets in the international arena.

Furthermore, he has held some sensational records over the years. The ace spinner was the fastest Indian to have scalped 100 wickets in Tests in just 18 games. When it comes to the overall wickets tally in Test history, he is currently placed ninth on the elite list of bowlers with Anil Kumble being the only other Indian spinner in the list.

As of now, Ravichandran Ashwin will be on international duty yet again after a long break at his home. Team India will play Bangladesh in the first Test at Chennai on September 19, where some records are waiting for 'Ash Anna' as he is fondly known. For the unversed, if Ashwin picks up another 22 wickets in the two-game Test series, he will surpass Kumble to become the spinner with the most wickets on Indian soil. Hence, the off-spinner will hope to start the World Test Championship game with a bang against the Bangla Tigers.
