The fans are eagerly waiting for IPL 2023 final to get underway as Gujarat Titans take on Chennai Super Kings in the big game on Sunday, May 28 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. GT will be eyeing their second consecutive title while CSK will look to get their fifth IPL title under their belt and get level with Mumbai Indians in terms of most IPL trophy wins (five).

However, ahead of the big game, an image from the Narendra Modi Stadium’s big screen claiming Chennai Super Kings as the runner-up of the edition has been going viral all over the internet. The image has created a furore on social media as fans are claiming the final to be fixed.

However, the viral image might well be a part of screen testing ahead of the big final and the same must’ve been run for Gujarat Titans as well.

Notably, it will be the third time in the ongoing season that Gujarat and Chennai will be up against each other. The two teams first met during the curtain-raiser of the season in Ahmedabad where GT emerged victorious by five wickets.

The two teams then faced off during Qualifier 1 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai where CSK beat GT by 15 runs. Having been beaten by the four-time champions in their previous fixture, GT will be eager to make a strong comeback in their home ground and become the first team in IPL history to win two titles in their first two attempts.

IPL final delayed due to incessant rains

However, the wait for the fans has gone longer as rain has delayed the start of the final. Just before the scheduled toss time, heavy rain showers were witnessed at the Narendra Modi Stadium and the start has been delayed.

The cut-off time for a five-over game is 11:56 pm and if the game fails to start by then, then the match will be shifted to the reserve day i.e. Monday, May 29.
