The riveting action will continue in the Indian Premier League season 16 as Delhi Capitals will take on Gujarat Titans in their first home game of the season on Tuesday, April 4 at Arun Jaitely Stadium. Like all IPL teams, Delhi will also be playing their first game at home after a gap of four years. However, the David Warner-led side will be without their regular captain Rishabh Pant, who has been ruled out of the entire season after injuring himself in a horrific car crash in December 2022.
Ahead of their first home game, the entire Delhi Capitals squad recorded a special message for Pant and wished him a speedy recovery. The video featured several DC players namely Prithvi Shaw, Axar Patel, Rovman Powell, Kuldeep Yadav, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, and many others sending their heartfelt wishes to the star cricketer and telling him how much they miss his presence in the dressing room.
“I hope you are recovering well. Dekh raha hu tere videos ab dhire dhire chal raha hai (I have seen your videos you’re slowly being able to walk). Baby steps are coming now. Really happy to see how you are recovering," Shaw said in the video shared by the official Twitter handle of IPL.
“We will be playing back in Delhi after 3-4 years. We will be missing you. I can see how well you are recovering. You are doing recovery pool for half an hour, so that’s a big thing," Axar said.
“I hope you recover well. I know you are supporting us and we will try to win it for you brother," said Powell.

Rishabh Pant to watch the first home game against GT
According to reports, the wicketkeeper-batter will be present at the stadium to watch Delhi’s first home game of the season. The Director of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), Shyam Sharma, had also earlier informed that special arrangements have been made for Pant to watch the game at the stadium, according to reports.
It will be his first public appearance since he met a horrific accident in December while travelling from Delhi to his hometown Roorkee, Uttarakhand. Pant’s speeding Mercedes car had reportedly hit a divider and the cricketer managed to escape the burning vehicle just in time with the help of some locals.
The 25-year-old suffered several injuries which will keep him out of action for an indefinite time as of now. He was last seen on the field, during the second Test between India and Bangladesh in December 2022 where he also scored a magnificent 93 in the first innings.
During Delhi’s season opener game against Lucknow Super Giants, the team had kept Pant’s jersey on the top of their dugout as a tribute to the swashbuckling batter.
