IPL 2023: Delhi Capitals unveil new jersey ahead of upcoming season
Delhi Capitals will play the first game of the season against Lucknow Super Giants on April 1.
The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League is less than two weeks away. Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings will lock horns in the curtain raiser on March 31 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Ahead of the upcoming season, Delhi Capitals launched their new jersey on Sunday, March 19.
The franchise unveiled the official team jersey of Delhi for the upcoming season during the ‘Run for Good’ event in the city. Children from the Savera Association were also present during the launch and were the first ones to wear the new kit.
Delhi Capitals shared the photographs from the event on Twitter and wrote, “Kyu Dilli, kaisa laga surprise❓🤩 #NayiDilliKiNayiJersey is here 👕 Launched in the city, for the city, and with the city. Children from the Savera Association were among the first to don the season’s new threads at this morning’s #RunForGood event with our players ❤️💙”
Delhi Capitals will play the first game of the season against Lucknow Super Giants on April 1 at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. On the other hand, their first home game in the IPL schedule will be against the defending champions Gujarat Titans on April 4 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
During the mini-auction held for the upcoming season in December 2022, Delhi signed five players to strengthen their squad. They bought the services of the swashbuckling England batter Phil Salt for INR 2 crore and roped in South Africa’s star batter Rilee Rossouw for INR 4.60 crore.
Delhi bought Ishant Sharma and Manish Pandey in the mini auction
Delhi also bid for experienced Indian cricketers Manish Pandey and Ishant Sharma, buying them for INR 2.4 crore and INR 50 lakh, respectively. They also bought the Bengal seamer Mukesh Kumar for a whopping 5.5 crore. Mukesh has 149 wickets in 39 first-class matches, averaging 21.55.
