Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) locked horns at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi in the 50th match of the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday, May 6. The David Warner-led side overcame the visitors by seven wickets in a thrilling contest. With this win, DC moved up one spot from the bottom of the IPL 2023 points table.

RCB skipper Faf du Plessis decided to bat first after winning the toss. The RCB openers Du Plessis and Virat Kohli produced a steady start for the visiting side as they scored 51 runs in the powerplay. However, DC managed to find a massive breakthrough with all-rounder Mitchell Marsh. He struck twice dismissing Du Plessis (45) and Glenn Maxwell for a duck in back-to-back deliveries.

Meanwhile, Kohli (55 off 46) scored a half-century while building a significant partnership with Mahipal Lomror. Mukesh Kumar, however, ended the partnership by dismissing Kohli. Following that, Lomror also struck a fifty as RCB posted 181/4 in 20 overs. For DC, Khaleel Ahmed also picked a wicket, dismissing keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik.

Salt's magnificent innings helps DC beat RCB by seven wickets in Delhi

During the chase, Delhi openers David Warner and Phil Salt got off to an explosive start. The opening duo put up 60 runs for the first wicket before the DC skipper departed for 22. Mitchell Marsh subsequently joined the fray and provided momentum for DC's innings before being dismissed for 26.

Meanwhile, opener Salt led the charge for DC and produced a phenomenal knock. He smashed 87 runs off 45 deliveries, including eight boundaries and six maximums. Rilee Rossouw (35* off 22) also played an impressive cameo as the home side chased down the target in 16.4 overs. For RCB, Josh Hazlewood, Karn Sharma, and Impact Player Harshal Patel scalped one wicket each.
