With ten runs required in the last two deliveries, Chennai Super Kings were on the back foot as Mohit Sharma was bowling brilliantly in the middle. However, in the final two balls, the pacer failed to hit the right length as Ravindra Jadeja hit a brilliant six in the penultimate delivery and a four in the last ball of the match to secure CSK’s fifth IPL title in history.

Meanwhile, Mohit, who bowled brilliantly throughout the course of the season, got all emotional after the game as skipper Hardik Pandya came close and hugged him in order to calm him down. Notably, the cricketer picked up three wickets on the night of the finals and was looking brilliant before Jadeja wreaked havoc in the middle.

After hitting the winning runs, Jadeja ran towards the dugout as skipper MS Dhoni hugged him and picked him up. The 41-year-old also looked emotional as he later went on to confirm that he is not retiring from the game as of yet.

On the other hand, Mohit Sharma’s story will definitely be one for the history books. The 34-year-old was playing as a net bowler for Gujarat Titans before the franchise signed him INR 50 lakhs in the auction. The cricketer had to wait for his wait opportunity in the middle but once he got, he was never dropped. In the 14 matches that he played, the pacer picked up 27 wickets and finished second in the IPL Purple Cap race. His teammate, ace pacer Mohammed Shami meanwhile topped the chart.

Meanwhile, in the presentation ceremony, GT skipper Hardik Pandya stated that he is happy with MS Dhoni winning the tournament as he believes that good things happen to good people.

“I'm very happy for him, destiny had this written. If I had to lose, I'd rather lose to him. Good things happen to good people, and he's been one of the best people I know. God has been kind, God has been kind to me as well but today was his night,” Hardik stated in the post-match presentation.
