Gujarat Titans' summit clash against Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad witnessed young Indian opener, Shubman Gill, break another batting record in the ongoing IPL 2023. The 23-year-old batter provided a brisk start to the home side, breaching the 30-run mark for the 13th time this season, the most by any batter in a single edition of the tournament.

Gujarat Titans' innings got off to a flying start thanks to Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha's brisk opening stand in the grand finale. During their solid opening stand, Gill overtook former Indian skipper Virat Kohli to become the batter with the most 30+ scores in a season.

Chennai Super Kings hit back after Shubman Gill's breezy cameo

The youngster was looking well set to torment the Chennai bowlers before star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja drew curtains on his onslaught after lightning work from skipper MS Dhoni from behind the stumps. Gill, who broke Jos Buttler's record of the second-highest run tally in a single season of IPL earlier in the innings, departed after a sizzling 39 off just 20 deliveries.

Gill finished his IPL 2023 campaign with 890 runs to his name, a run tally only second to batting icon Virat Kohli's staggering 973 runs in the 2016 edition of the tournament.
