Lucknow Super Giants seamer Jaydev Unadkat injured his shoulder while practicing in the nets on Sunday, April 30 ahead of LSG’s ninth match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The left-arm seamer got his feet stuck in the rope which keeps the net upright during his follow-through and awkwardly fell on his bowling arm, injuring his left shoulder.

According to reports, the 31-year-old will remain in Lucknow and is in touch with the BCCI medical staff about the procedures to follow. Whether he would travel to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru remains to be known as it is subject to further consultation.

ESPNCricinfo reported that while Unadkat’s shoulder remained sore, there was no dislocation. The Saurashtra seamer played three matches in IPL 2023 for LSG and remained wicketless after bowling eight overs.

However, Unadkat’s injury could prove to be a big blow for India as he is included in the squad for the World Test Championship final scheduled to be played from June 7 at The Oval in London.

KL Rahul injured while fielding vs RCB

Meanwhile, in another major blow to LSG, captain KL Rahul also injured himself during the match against RCB on Monday, May 1 while trying to stop a boundary in the second over of the first innings.

The LSG skipper dived to stop the boundary off Faf du Plessis’ bat and in the process, injured his leg. A stretcher was called to take him off the field but Rahul did manage to limp off the field by himself, with some support. An official update on his injury is awaited but things didn’t look good for the star batter and is likely to not feature in the remainder of the game against RCB.

Rahul is the second-highest run-getter for Lucknow in IPL 2023 with 274 runs to his name from eight innings at an average of 34.25 and a strike rate of 114.64. The injury to the 31-year-old is another major blow to India as he too was selected to play in the World Test Championship Final against Australia. With injuries to Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant, Rahul was expected to play a pivotal role in the batting order in the summit clash.
