At 126/6, Chennai Super Kings were in trouble when Ambati Rayudu was removed by Khaleel Ahmed. But the fans got their money's worth when MS Dhoni, entered the crease with the bat. His heroics in the death overs helped CSK clinch a victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) as they were defeated by 27 runs, and Dhoni's quickfire 20 off 9 balls, turned out to be the game-changing performance.
However, MS Dhoni's time on the field was concerning as the veteran was seen limping while running between the wickets. Though the 41-year-old majorly dealt in boundaries as his cameo was studded with two sixes and a four, he was seen limping when he was rotating the strike with Ravindra Jadeja.
Former India cricketer and ace commentator Irfan Pathan too took to his Twitter to note the same, and lauded Dhoni's efforts as he wrote:
"Seeing Dhoni limping thru running between the wickets breaks my heart. Have seen him run like a cheetah."
As he struggled to run, Dhoni tried his best to go for the big shots. In his short span on the field, where he faced nine deliveries, he hit two sixes, a four, two singles and a double, while others were dot balls. His heroics towards the end of the game, after Shivam Dube's blitzkrieg in the middle, helped CSK get to a respectable total against Delhi.
Though a victory looked difficult after the first innings, brilliance by the bowlers helped CSK grab the win as Matheesha Pathirana finished with three wickets to his name, Deepak Chahar picked up two while Jadeja finished with 1/19 in four overs at a brilliant economy of 4.75.
