IPL 2023: Naveen-ul-Haq teased with 'Kohli-Kohli' chants during LSG vs MI clash
Naveen-ul-Haq had a verbal spat with Kohli earlier during IPL 2023.
Lucknow Super Giants fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq is having a tough time in IPL 2023 following his altercation with Virat Kohli during Match 43 of the season against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The 23-year-old got involved in a verbal battle with the RCB batting star which has not gone down well with Kohli fans.
The Afghanistan seamer has been targeted by fans wherever LSG has travelled and the same continued during Lucknow’s last fixture against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday, May 16 at home as the pacer was teased with ‘Kohli! Kohli!’ chants while fielding close to the boundary. However, Naveen did not flustered look at and instead encouraged the crowd to increase their volume signalling with his hands.
The video of the incident has been going viral all over the internet with fans having mixed responses on the video. Some fans are of the opinion that the behaviour was uncalled for while some are supporting the crowd.

Earlier, during LSG’s away clash against Sunrises Hyderabad, the team was targeted with ‘Kohli’ chants while there were a few nuts and bolts which were thrown at the LSG dugout, which led to the match being stopped birefly. Notably, the umpires rushed to the dugout to control the situation.
Meanwhile, Naveen didn’t have a good outing against MI as he leaked 37 runs in his four-over spell. However, despite his poor show, LSG managed to win the match by five runs as Mohsin Khan successfully defended 11 in the last over against Cameron Green and Tim David.
After being put in to bat first, LSG posted a good score of 177/3, riding on brilliant knocks from captain Krunal Pandya (49 off 42) and Marcus Stoinis (89 off 47). In reply, MI could only manage 172/5 despite good knocks from Ishan Kishan (59 off 39), Rohit Sharma (37 off 25) and Tim David (32* off 19).
Courtesy of their win, LSG secured their third spot on the points table with 15 points to their name with seven wins from 13 games (including a washout against CSK). They now need to win their last fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 20 to qualify for the playoffs.
