David Warner-led Delhi Capitals bowed out of IPL 2023 with a whimper after they were handed a chastening defeat by four-time champions Chennai Super Kings in their last league fixture. Even though the home side ended up on the losing side, their skipper David Warner features in our Play of the Day for his sublime reverse sweep.

After conceding a mammoth total in the first innings of the match, the Delhi-based outfit were in a spot of bother after losing three quick wickets in the powerplay. However, veteran Aussie opener David Warner played a lone hand to resurrect the innings in the middle overs.

Warner, who is renowned for his innovative shots, especially his controversial switch hit, took a liking to Chennai's Ravindra Jadeja in the all-rounder's final over of the match. After smashing the Indian star for a boundary and a maximum off consecutive deliveries, Warner reverse-swept the left-arm spinner for an astonishing six.

Chennai Super Kings storm into the playoffs for a 12th time

The Delhi skipper, playing his last game of the season, fought a lost battle for his side, smashing 86 runs in just 58 deliveries. They never threatened to scale the mammoth target set by CSK as Warner did not receive any support from the other end with only Yash Dhull and Axar Patel reaching double figures in the second innings apart from the Aussie opener.

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings' 77-run victory sealed their playoff spot, moving into the second position in the points table. The four-time champions, who endured an abysmal campaign in last year's tournament, bounced back handsomely this year, qualifying for the knockout stages for a record 12th time in their 14 appearances in the tournament.
