Defending champions to kickstart proceedings on March 31
After clinching the coveted trophy in 2022, Gujarat Titans will begin their title defence in a high-voltage clash against four-time winners Chennai Super Kings on March 31, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. As many as 70 matches will be played in the league phase, scheduled to be held across 12 venues. The tournament will also feature 18 double headers where matches will be played in the usual slots of 3:30 pm and 7:30 pm.
In addition to this, the BCCI has introduced a new rule in this season, which is the inclusion of 'impact player' in the playing XI. Franchises will have to list four substitutes (Indians) during the toss but can use only one of those players in the match.
Following the conclusion of the action-packed mini-auction in December, the clock’s ticking for the serious business to commence on March 31. Hardik Pandya-led Titans will be gunning to add yet another trophy to their cabinet whereas Mumbai and Chennai will aim to get back to their glory days after a dismal campaign last year.
