The start of the play between Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Supergiants in IPL 2023 was delayed due to a stray dog but after a while, CSK smashed bowlers all over the ground. Playing at MA Chidambaram Stadium, openers Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad played the first over trying to get hold of the wicket. However, in the second over of their innings, they took Avesh Khan to the cleaners, scoring 17 off his over.
Ever since then, CSK batters dominated the bowling attack to score 79 runs in the powerplay, which also stands as their highest team total in the first six overs at their home ground. The previous best came against Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2018 edition, where they scored 75/1 in the powerplay.
Currently, the CSK batters seem to be well-poised for posting a mammoth total on the board, as they are striking the ball well, on a surface at Chidambaram that seems to be favoring the batters well.
Being put into bat, CSK exploded in full form, and seeing that, Supergiants' skipper KL Rahul might have doubted his decision. However, LSG bowlers will need to come into action well if they wish to bag another win of the season.
A stray dog interrupts the start of play at Chepauk
Just when both sides arrived in the middle to start the proceedings, a stray dog entered the field of play to interrupt the action by as long as ten minutes. Gaikwad left the field after his gritty fifty(57 off 31) while Conway played his part well by adding 47 off 29. It remains to be seen what CSK batters would be posting on board as they look adamant enough to breach the 200-run mark. Young spinner Ravi Bishnoi starred for LSG as he picked three wickets while conceding at 7.00. Mark Wood and Avesh Khan also picked a wicket each in the game.
