After smacking a cracking century against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 18, former Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli was spotted signing souvenirs for SRH’s players. The 34-year-old was seen signing a bat, SRH jersey, and cap as the official Instagram handle of the IPL shared it later on.
When it comes to the match, South Africa international Heinrich Klaasen hit a sensational century to help SRH post 186 runs on board in the first innings. The openers Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi once again failed to get going, while making his return to the playing XI, Harry Brook hit 27* runs off 19 deliveries. With the ball, New Zealand international Michael Bracewell picked up two wickets while Mohammed Siraj was brilliant, picking up one wicket and conceding only 17 runs in his four overs.
When it came to the chase, RCB openers Kohli and Faf du Plessis set the tone of the innings. Their partnership of 172 runs eventually decided the fate of the match as the team eventually won by eight wickets. The RCB skipper hit 71 runs off 47 deliveries and strengthened his position at the top of the IPL Orange Cap race while Virat with his century (100 runs off 63 deliveries) moved to number four on the list.
Meanwhile, in their next match, the three-time finalists are going to host Gujarat Titans on May 21 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium and that’s going to be a do-or-die game for the home side. They are currently fourth on the IPL points table and a win can guarantee their position in the playoffs. However, the team will also have to keep an eye on Mumbai Indians. If the five-time champions manage to win their last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad and eventually improve their net run rate, the Rohit Sharma-led side will topple RCB to take that spot. However, both teams can qualify as well if either LSG or CSK drop any point in their last league match.
