The 43rd game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 featured a thrilling clash between the Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Sports City Stadium on Monday, May 1.

Known for wearing his heart on his sleeve, Kohli had a memorable game in Lucknow as the 34-year-old took two brilliant catches to hinder Lucknow’s plans to chase the target down. Firstly, Kohli took a comfortable catch as Glenn Maxwell dismissed Krunal Pandya in the fourth over of the second innings whereas Ayush Badoni was dismissed in the very next over as the batter tried to go inside out, but Kohli took a brilliant catch in the extra cover region.

The fabulous catch even brought a smile to the face of the batting maestro’s wife, Anushka Sharma, who was celebrating her 35th birthday on the same day. She was ecstatic after Kohli took Badoni's catch and her reaction went viral on social media.

Brilliant performance with the ball sees RCB defend low total against LSG

RCB came in to bat first at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Aiming to put a big total on the board, the side got off to a good start in the first innings as Virat Kohli scored 31 off 30, while Faf du Plessis amassed 44 off 40. However, none of the other batters scored to much as only Dinesh Karthik got over 10 runs.

By the end of the first innings, RCB posted 126/9. Missing skipper KL Rahul due to injury right from the start of the run chase, the hosts got off to a horrid start as Kyle Mayers was dismissed for a duck. Josh Hazlewood put in a brilliant performance with the ball, taking two wickets and conceding 15 runs in the three overs he bowled.

Karn Sharma took two wickets while Mohammed Siraj, Glenn Maxwell, Wanindu Hasaranga and Harshal Patel picked one wicket each, bundling Lucknow out for 108 runs to win the game by 18 runs.
