IPL 2024: Chennai Metro extend services post midnight for CSK vs GT match
Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) is ensuring fans can enjoy the match without worrying about conveyance.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are gearing up to take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in their second game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season on March 26 at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium. Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) ensures fans can enjoy the match without worrying about getting home late.
CSK and GT are coming off victories in their opening games, making the upcoming clash an exciting contest. CSK defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by six wickets in the curtain raiser, while Gujarat edged out Mumbai Indians by six runs in a thriller. With both teams in high spirits, they will be keen to grab another win and build early momentum.
To accommodate the late night rush after the 7:30 PM start, CMRL has announced metro services will run until 1 AM on March 27. This extension provides a safe and convenient transport option for cricket fans who are coming to support their team at the stadium.
“After the match, the rush at Government Estate / Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Metro stations would be very high and may result in a long wait in the queues to purchase a ticket, ” CMRL mentioned in an official statement.

Metro to work post-midnight for CSK vs GT game
To avoid crowding, fans are strongly advised to buy return tickets in advance through the CMRL mobile app, digital wallets like Paytm and PhonePe, or at ticket counters before heading to the stadium.
"Commuters are advised to buy their metro tickets in advance for return / round trip either online from platforms like CMRL mobile App, Paytm app, Phonepe app, WhatsApp, ONDC, etc., or at the ticket counters at any of the stations before going to the stadium," the official statement read.
After 11 PM, trains will only run from Government Estate towards Puratchi Thalaivar Dr MGR Central, where passengers can interchange to the Green Line. Special flat fares of ₹40 from Government Estate and ₹50 from the Central station will be available post 11 PM.

Notably, during the recently concluded Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 finals between Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women (RCB-W) and Delhi Capitals Women (DC-W), the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had extended the metro timings.
