Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) gave their fans a memorable moment on Saturday, May 18, as they defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 27 runs to progress to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 playoffs.

Following the crucial victory, RCB fans were thrilled to bits as their favourite team managed to overcome a paltry performance in the first half of the season to make the playoffs for the fourth time in the last five years. However, a set of RCB fanatics were not content with the phenomenal result but they wanted to rub salt into the wounds of the CSK fans, who had arrived at the stadium to support the Men in Yellow.

A video on social media is receiving a lot of attention where one CSK fan can be seen in a tough spot, facing taunts and jeers from a handful of RCB supporters outside the Chinnaswamy premises following the nerve-wracking encounter. A few RCB fans were seen hugging the CSK fan, while one started lifting him off his feet repeatedly.

Fan wars have been quite common, especially in recent years. There is no wrong in having healthy rivalries but fans should not let emotions get the better of them in the heat of the moment. Some criticised the RCB supporters for their behaviour towards the CSK fan. Meanwhile, some RCB supporters have posted videos of CSK fans heckling the supporters of the Bengaluru-based franchise in previous matches.

Earlier in the day, Chennai Super Kings opted to bowl first and Bengaluru posted a challenging total of 218/5 on the board. RCB skipper Faf du Plessis top-scored with a 39-ball 54, while Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Cameron Green also played important knocks.

In reply, the five-time champions were restricted to 191/7, losing the match by 27 runs. CSK needed to get to 201 to secure a playoffs berth. They were well on course with MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja at the crease in the final over. However, Yash Dayal kept his cool and bowled a fantastic last over to take his team home.
