In the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), Punjab Kings (PBKS) have found themselves in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. After initially facing embarrassment over a mix-up in the player auction, the team now finds itself under scrutiny for its apparent lack of enthusiasm during a crucial match-winning performance by one of its players.

During the IPL 2024 auction in December 2023, Punjab Kings accidentally purchased the wrong Shashank Singh, a 32-year-old player from Chhattisgarh, instead of the 19-year-old batter they had intended to sign. Despite this mix-up, the team decided to retain the older Shashank Singh, and their decision has now paid off.

In a recent nailbiter against Gujarat Titans, Singh helped PBKS chase down a daunting target of 200 and secure a thrilling three-wicket victory by scoring an unbeaten 61 runs off just 29 deliveries, including six boundaries and four towering sixes. However, the celebrations at the PBKS dugout did not match the significance of Shashank's performance. Fans on social media were left disappointed as neither Shashank nor his teammates made any noticeable effort to acknowledge his first-ever IPL half-century milestone.

The lack of enthusiasm from the team towards Shashank's achievement has sparked a debate among fans, who believe that the franchise should have celebrated the moment and recognized the player's contribution to the team's victory.

Notably, Shashank Singh's remarkable innings, along with a crucial partnership with the Impact Player, Ashutosh Sharma, helped PBKS chase down a daunting target of 200 and secure a thrilling three-wicket victory. The 32-year-old starred with the bat and guided his team to a crucial win. The Punjab-based franchise after last night's victory finds themselves at the fifth position on the points table. They will now face Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next game at home, after a four-day gap.
