IPL 2024: Hardik Pandya hugs Rohit Sharma during Mumbai Indians' practice session, video goes viral

Mumbai Indians are gearing up for their first game of the IPL (Indian Premier League) 2024. The five-time champions will be under the new captaincy of all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who came into the side in an all-cash trade with Gujarat Titans. 

As the side gears up for their first game against Gujarat Titans, skipper Hardik Pandya and former captain Rohit Sharma were seen hugging and meeting up in the huddle in the practice session. The clip of the same was shared by Mumbai Indians on their official X handle as the post made the rounds all over social media. It would be quite an iconic occasion for Hardik Pandya and Mumbai Indians as the franchise will kick off its IPL 2024 campaign by taking on Pandya’s former franchise, whom he led to title glory in 2023, Gujarat Titans.

Both sides will square off in the fifth game of the tournament at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, on March 24. Mumbai Indians will hope to avoid an outcome similar to that of 2023. However, there is no doubt that Titans are a formidable side, one of the best in the IPL but so are Mumbai Indians. It could prove to be a tight game with any of the teams coming out as the winner. Under the new leadership of Hardik Pandya, it could be interesting to see how MI fare and how the camaraderie between Pandya and former skipper Rohit Sharma pans out throughout the season.

After Mumbai Indians-Gujarat Titans trade, Shubman Gill will lead the franchise

Meanwhile, speaking of Gujarat Titans franchise,  they will be under the leadership of their new skipper, Shubman Gill. The star batter was appointed as the side’s skipper after Pandya left the franchise. Interestingly enough, Gary Kirsten recently opined that the young captain has been doing rarely well in training sessions so far. Hence many fans are eagerly waiting to see how the star batter fares in his new role in the upcoming IPL season.
