IPL 2024: Herschelle Gibbs mocks Travis Head’s 300-talk following unsuccessful chase vs RCB
“I know travis head said he wants 300 but chasing 207 on a slower wicket would have been just as skilful,” Gibbs tweeted.
Sunrisers Hyderabad conceded a shock loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their recent clash of the IPL (Indian Premier League) 2024. Both sides faced off in the 41st game of the tournament on Thursday, April 25, and after RCB posted a total of 206 runs on the board, Hyderabad failed to chase it down, eventually losing the game by 35 runs.
After SRH’s loss, Travis Head’s comments after his side’s previous game came to light, where the star batter revealed how he wants SRH to pass the 300-run mark in an innings after their continued onslaught in the tournament.
SRH’s failure to chase down a target of 207 runs saw former South Africa batter Herschelle Gibbs take to X (formerly known as Twitter) and mock the Aussie over his 300-run comment, opining that chasing down the target against RCB would be just as commendable.
“I know travis head said he wants 300 but chasing 207 on a slower wicket would have been just as skilful,” Gibbs tweeted.
RCB register second win of IPL 2024
Speaking of the IPL 2024, it was a day to remember for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Having played nine games in the tournament, RCB registered their second win of the season, defeating Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. However, the win made little difference in the points table, as the Faf du Plessis-led side still sits in 10th place in the standings with four points in nine games.
On the other hand, Sunrisers currently maintain their position in the standings as well. With eight games played, the Pat Cummins-led side have won five games in the tournament so far, and the loss in the previous game was their third of this year.
With 10 points in eight games, SRH is still well in the race for the Playoffs, and they will hope to reciprocate the loss in the upcoming clash.
