IPL 2024: Rachin Ravindra 'grateful' for Chennai's 'love and support'

Rachin Ravindra, Chennai Super Kings' newest addition emerged as the ultimate performer for the side in their recent clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) on March 26, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, which was a rematch of last year's final.
The power-hitting New Zealand all-rounder showcased his batting prowess, smashing a quick-fire 46 off just 20 deliveries, including six boundaries and three maximums which was crucial in CSK's 63-run victory.
Born in Wellington to parents of South Indian descent, Ravindra has earned immense admiration from fans since being signed by CSK in the 2024 IPL Player Auction. The fans' affection intensified following his noteworthy performances in the first two games for CSK. Following the clash against Shubman Gill and Co., Ravindra was asked about the electrifying atmosphere at Chepauk and the chants of his name from the stands. He humbly expressed his gratitude towards the fans and appreciated their support and hoped they would continue doing it.
"Rach, how was the atmosphere today? they used to go Sachin Sachin. They are going Rachin Rachin. You've become a favourite. How does it feel?," the host asked.
"I'm not sure I'm quite a favourite just yet, but yeah the Chennai fans are amazing. I sort of mentioned last time how loud it was and they didn't disappoint again today I guess it's always a great, special feeling when you've got fans sharing your name and I mean I'm very very grateful for that to happen and it just shows love and support for the CSK fans have for the players. so very very thankful and hope it keeps on coming," Ravindra told in a video shared by the franchise.

CSK beat GT by 63 runs in their second game in IPL 2024
After being put to bat first, CSK got off to a flying start with Rachin Ravindra and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad forging a formidable 62-run opening stand. However, the Kiwi fell four runs short of a half-century, being stumped by Wriddhiman Saha off Rashid Khan's delivery, amassing 46 off 20 balls. In contrast, Gaikwad also departed for 46 shortly after CSK lost the wicket of Ajinkya Rahane. Shivam Dube then showcased his prowess with a half-century, guiding Chennai to set a mammoth 207-run target.

During GT's chase, Deepak Chahar struck early, dismissing both Saha and Shubman Gill. The Titans struggled to gain momentum courtesy of CSK's tight bowling. Muztafizur Rahman and Tushar Deshpande also claimed two wickets each as CSK restricted GT to 143 runs and registered a commanding 63-run win.
