The Royal Derby never seems to disappoint - high-scoring thrillers, low-scoring nail-biters, fights, altercations, and much more; it has provided fans with almost everything that could be asked for. Match 19 of IPL 2024 was no different. Right from the toss which Sanju Samson won and to everyone's surprise, decided to bowl first on a ground where teams usually prefer fielding first, to a majestic century by Jos Buttler by hitting a six off the first ball of the final over of the match, this fixture had everything in store for fans.
The first innings wasn't short of any entertainment either. Watching the skipper of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru getting some runs under his belt seemed heartening, to say the least, with the most iconic phase of the match still going to the innings played by Virat Kohli; 113* (72), a mind-blowing knock characterized by some wonderful strokeplay, which was pleasing to the eye.
A rib-tickling incident unfolded between the first and second deliveries in the final over of the first innings, with a female supporter of the Rajasthan Royals being captured by the camera in the midst of successfully wearing an RCB jersey over the originally-worn RR jersey, with the score reading 173/3 in 19.1 overs.

What made it even more hilarious was the Hindi commentary describing the entire incident, narrated by none other than the quick-witted Akash Chopra. When the supporter, who had RR's logo tattooed on her left cheek, wore the RCB jersey, Chopra spoke on how "divided loyalty" worked, assuming the supporter was in a dilemma as to which team to support. The focus then went onto Kohli, who was on-strike to face the over over bowled by Avesh Khan, with Chopra likening Kohli to be "cricket's royalty", which was ultimately epitomized by Kohli's single-handed effort to make RCB reach to a somewhat respectable at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.
