IPL 2024: Rohit Sharma hits at broadcaster for 'breach of privacy' in blunt tweet
“Let better sense prevail,” Rohit posted on X.
Star cricketer Rohit Sharma took to microblogging platform 'X' (formerly Twitter) to express his disappointment towards the official broadcaster of IPL 2024 for recording and airing his private talks with friends and colleagues. Rohit went on to say that despite requesting them to not track his conversations at training or on match days, they were aired.
This act by the broadcaster left Rohit in extreme ire of their act to, which was aired multiple times on network channels openly.
"The lives of cricketers have become so intrusive that cameras are now recording every step and conversation we are having in privacy with our friends and colleagues, at training or on match days. Despite asking Star Sports to not record my conversation, it was and was also then played on air, which is a breach of privacy. The need to get exclusive content and focused only on views and engagement will one day break the trust between the fans, cricketers and cricket. Let better sense prevail," the 37-year-old responded on social media.
As Mumbai Indians culminated their dismal campaign at the IPL 2024, fans speculated if it was the end of the former skipper's journey with the successful franchise. The gossip around Rohit leaving the franchise only rose after he posted a pic of MI fans, expressing his affection towards the ardent supporters for turning out in numbers in their last league stage game against Lucknow Super Giants despite a disastrous season.
A set of netizens, however, were saying that this might just be the end of Rohit's ties with the Men in Blue & Gold, as reports of him not happy with Hardik Pandya's leadership skills. If the talks are to be believed, the legendary cricketer may find a home in another franchise.
