The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) lifted their third IPL title on May 26 as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by eight wickets in Chennai. However, in the middle of all the celebrations for the Kolkata side, there were some supporters of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the stands during the summit clash.
The Chennai-based franchise had a disappointing campaign under their new skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, finishing fifth in the points table with just seven wins from fourteen matches. They were defeated by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in a must-win game by 27 runs and lost all their hopes to qualify for the playoffs. Despite their struggles, the loyal CSK fans showed their support for the side in Chepauk last evening.
Chennai supporters were chanting "CSK CSK CSK" as they became louder when co-owner of KKR and Bollywood actor, Shah Rukh Khan, took a victory lap around the ground, enjoying the victory with his players. Remarkably, instead of dismissing them, the Bollywood superstar accepted the moment, joining the fans and chanting back "CSK! CSK!" with a wide smile across his face.

Khan celebrated the title victory in a little toned-down manner as he was hospitalized due to dehydration and heat stroke before the final. He was seen wearing a mask throughout the match. In the final, the Shreyas Iyer-led side chased down a target of 113 with ease.
SRH's top order collapsed, with skipper Pat Cummins's 24 being the highest score. The Knights had a wonderful day with the ball as all their bowlers chipped up with crucial wickets. Mitchell Starc (2/14) and Andre Russell (3/19) shared five wickets between them as they bowled out the Orange Army in 18.3 overs.

In the chase, Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 39, but it was Venkatesh Iyer's unbeaten 52 off 36 balls that sealed KKR's third IPL title with 57 balls to spare. Kolkata won their second title at the same venue in 2012.
