Delhi Capitals clashed with Chennai Super Kings in Match 13 of the Indian Premier League 2024 at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Sunday. DC won the toss and opted to bat first. Prithvi Shaw was included in the squad and he opened the inning with David Warner. The duo showed a lack of intent at first but scored boundaries as they got hold of the nature of the pitch. They stitched 93 runs for the first wicket before Warner was dismissed and subsequently Shaw after scoring 52 and 43 respectively.

Rishabh Pant looked in great touch and avoided any further mishaps, but Mitchell Marsh departed early. Tristan Stubbs followed him quickly, and Pant was left with tailenders to do the finishing job. After scoring two boundaries and six off Matheesha Pathirana in the 19th over, Pant departed. Axar Patel and Abhishek Porel lacked ammunition and DC ended their inning with 191 on board.

Chasing a challenging target of 191, CSK were dented with Khaleel Ahmed’s crisp bowling as he sent both their openers, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra cheaply. Ajinkya Rahane and Daryl Mitchell were left with the patch-up work and the duo amassed 68 runs between them for the fourth wicket. However, Rahane and Mitchell were dismissed after scoring 45 and 34 respectively. CSK never looked their old self after that.

CSK batters left too much deal as Dhoni, Jadeja fail to take them over the line

Sameer Rizvi seemed to carry the license to go for it from the word go and he walked back to the pavilion after getting out on the first ball. Shivam Dube’s lack of intent was evident as he scored just one boundary in his 17-ball stay. With 58 needed off 18 balls, Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni could only manage 30 runs as DC emerged victorious by 20 runs. This was CSK’s maiden loss in the IPL 2024 so far.
