DC thwarted GT by six wickets and 11.1 overs to spare in Ahmedabad.
Delhi Capitals took on Gujarat Titans in Match 32 of the Indian Premier League 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. DC won the toss and followed the tradition to bowl first. GT dealt an early blow and Shubman Gill was dismissed by Ishan Sharma in the second over. Wriddiman Saha followed suit soon after. Sai Sudharsan was getting into the groove but a brilliant runout by Sumit Kumar halted his stay.
David Miller who was making his comeback could not sail GT’s boat as he walked back for two off six. Abhinav Manohar and Rahul Tewatia sunk themselves in a black hole created by GT’s bowlers. Shahrukh Khan was introduced as an impact player, but he perished off a stumping by Rishabh Pant. Rashid Khan played a sensible knock of 31 off 24. DC’s bowlers took no time to deliver the damage and GT posted a paltry 89 runs on board having lost all of their wickets.

For DC, Mukesh Kumar was the standout bowler with three wickets to his name. He conceded just 14 runs and bowled a mere 2.3 overs. Tristan Stubbs and Ishant Sharma picked two wickets each. Khaleel Ahmed and Axar Patel snared a wicket apiece. Barring Stubbs, no other bowler conceded runs above six runs per over.
DC’s win helps their Net Run Rate cause
The Capitals came all gun blazing for the chase. Jake Fraser-McGurk scored 20 off 10 and set the tone for the chase. Prithvi Shaw looked out of shape in the most shots he played and departed after scoring seven runs. Abhishek Porel and Shain Hope helped DC’s cause with timely boundaries. They walked back after scoring 15 and 19 respectively. Rishabh Pant smashed a boundary and a maximum in his unbeaten 16 runs knock. Sumit scored two boundaries and DC thwarted GT by six wickets and 11.1 overs to spare.
