With the new opening pair of Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill, GT aimed high as both piled 54 runs in the powerplay. Yash Thakur dislodged Gill’s timber and he departed scoring 19 off 21. Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandya pitched in for LSG as both dismissed Kane Williamson and Sharath BR respectively. Thakur again sent Vijay Shankar packing for 17 off 17. Krunal ended Nalkande’s stay for 12 off 11. Rashid could not bring out his magic with the bat and walked back without troubling the scorers.

It was Thakur’s night overall as he summoned himself to finish the formalities. Just after picking the Afghanistan spinner’s wicket, he braced himself for the 19^th over.
