Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titan exchanged blows in match 21 of the Indian Premier League 2024 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday. LSG won the toss and opted to bat first on a pitch which was anticipated to assist old ball bowlers. Quinton de Kock departed after scoring six runs, as KL Rahul kept the powerplay going. With the new opening pair of Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill, GT aimed high as both piled 54 runs in the powerplay. Yash Thakur dislodged Gill’s timber and he departed scoring 19 off 21. Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandya pitched in for LSG as both dismissed Kane Williamson and Sharath BR respectively. Thakur again sent Vijay Shankar packing for 17 off 17. Krunal ended Nalkande’s stay for 12 off 11. Rashid could not bring out his magic with the bat and walked back without troubling the scorers.

It was Thakur’s night overall as he summoned himself to finish the formalities. Just after picking the Afghanistan spinner’s wicket, he braced himself for the 19th over. The pacer ended Rahul Tewatia’s innings who desired a trademark finish and the former walked away with 30 off 25. On his radar was another Afghan, Noor Ahmed had no chance but to go for it and nicked one to de Kock. Thakur ended with a figure of 5 for 30 and LSG won the game by 33 runs. They bowled out GT within 19 overs.
