IPL 2024: Top 10 Memes from SRH vs LSG, Match 57
SRH beat LSG by ten wickets in the 57th match of the ongoing IPL 2024
During the 57th match of the ongoing IPL 2024 season, held in Hyderabad on (Wednesday) May 8, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) showcased a dominant performance against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), securing a resounding victory by ten wickets with an impressive margin of 62 balls remaining.
After winning the toss, LSG chose to bat first but encountered early setbacks as their openers, Quinton de Kock and Marcus Stoinis, departed cheaply. Despite Skipper KL Rahul's efforts to stabilize the innings with a modest 29-run contribution, it was Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni who provided the real fireworks. Pooran remained unbeaten with a scorching 48 off 26 deliveries, while Badoni played an electrifying knock of 55 runs off just 30 balls. Despite their strong efforts, LSG managed to post a competitive total of 165/4 in their allotted 20 overs.
SRH's bowling unit demonstrated discipline, led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who claimed two crucial wickets while conceding a mere 12 runs in his four overs. Pat Cummins also contributed with a wicket, albeit conceding 47 runs during his spell.
In pursuit of 166 runs, SRH openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head launched a relentless assault on the LSG bowlers. Travis Head played a remarkable innings, finishing unbeaten on 89 off just 30 balls, displaying exceptional hitting prowess with eight fours and eight sixes. Abhishek Sharma complemented him perfectly with an explosive knock of 75 runs off only 28 deliveries, smashing eight fours and six sixes. Together, they dismantled the LSG bowling attack, guiding SRH to victory without losing a single wicket.
After the match, KL Rahul praised the extraordinary batting display by Sunrisers Hyderabad, expressing awe at their remarkable skill and ability to consistently find the middle of the bat. He acknowledged the relentless six-hitting prowess of the opposition and admitted the challenge they posed from the very start. Rahul admitted that being on the losing side raises questions about decision-making and acknowledged that his team fell short by 40-50 runs.
"Am lost for words. We have watched that kind of batting on tv. But this is unreal batting. Everything seemed to find the middle of the bat. Kudos to their skills. They have worked hard on their six hitting skills. They didn't give us a chance to know what the pitch played in the second innings. Was hard to stop them as they teed off from ball one. Once you are on the losing side, there are questions marks on the decisions taken. We were 40-50 runs short. When we lost wickets in the powerplay, we couldn't get any momentum. Ayush and Nicky batted well to get us to 166. But even if we would have got 240, they could have chased it as well," Rahul said during the post-match presentation.
