Ruturaj Gaikwad took a fabulous diving catch to dismiss Devdutt Padikkal in the arch-rivalry match between CSK and RCB in the IPL 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. As Padikkal looked dangerous by smashing both spinners and pacers for fun in his stay in the middle, Gaikwad brought Ravichandran Ashwin back into the attack, which paid dividends immediately.
Ashwin tossed the ball up despite the Southpaw's aggression in the middle. The Kerala-born attempted to make a room for himself and go over the top of the cover region. However, the star batter did not get enough elevation. The ball travelled to the region inside the 30-yard circle, where the CSK skipper had stationed himself in the cover region. The catch wasn't easy, as the ball didn't land exactly where Gaikwad stood.

The Pune-born recognized the trajectory of the ball and put in the necessary dive. He caught the ball just in time and claimed the catch, almost zero degrees off the surface. The third umpire didn't feel the necessity to go upstairs and trusted Ruturaj, who pulled off a very good catch to dismiss a dangerous looking Padikkal. It helped CSK to be back in the game.
