Chennai Super Kings (CSK) played debutant Vijay Shankar in the 11th game of the IPL 2025 against Rajasthan Royals (RR). Shankar, making his debut appearance of the season, grabbed a stunning catch to dismiss Wanindu Hasaranga in the ongoing match at the Barsapara Stadium, Guwahati during the first innings.
Ravindra Jadeja bowled a full-length delivery on the slot, which tempted the batter to go for a big slog sweep. The ball travelled towards the deep mid-wicket. With eyes glued on the ball, Shankar came running in, dived towards the ball's direction, and took the catch. The Tamil Nadu cricketer was extremely conscious about keeping his hands under the ball. The on-field umpires went upstairs to check whether the catch was clean or not, however, the replay confirmed that it was clean as a whistle.

It was a dreamy start for Shankar with his new team this season. He will hope to have a good and memorable time with the bat as well. CSK's playing unit lacks huge strikers, and the all-rounder will be keen to play that role in the middle order. Meanwhile, Nitish Rana played a wonderful knock of 81 runs in 36 balls, hitting ten boundaries and five sixes, which helped RR reach a decent total.
Riyan Parag bags a beauty
Later in the game, Riyan Parag too held onto a stunner with a brilliant diving effort in the covers. The Guwahati crowd was sent into frenzy by seeing the effort of their local hero, which sent Shivam Dube packing off Wanindu Hasaranga. Dube had just hit the first two balls of the over for 10 runs. The third ball was again hit fiercely by the batter to pierce it through the gap, but Parag's exceptional acrobatics meant that Dube had to make his way back to the hut.
