IPL 2025: DC vs RR, Match 32 – Full highlights, top moments & winner details
Delhi Capitals handed Rajasthan Royals their fifth loss of IPL 2025.
Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals produced a nail‑biting game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, which ended in the first Super Over of IPL 2025, and it was Mitchell Starc’s brilliant death-over bowling that swung the contest in DC’s favour.
Asked to bat first, Capitals posted a total of 188 for 5. Abhishek Porel’s 49 off 37 balls got them off to a stunning start, putting the Royals’ bowlers on the back foot. KL Rahul then steadied the ship with 38 from 32 deliveries, but it was the late heroics by Rahul that hurt RR. Captain Axar Patel finished with 34 off 14 balls, lacing his innings with four fours and two sixes, before Tristan Stubbs smashed an unbeaten 34 off just 18 balls to push DC past the 175‑run mark. In the final over, Sandeep Sharma leaked 19 runs, the most he’s conceded in an over this season, as DC reached a defendable target.
Chasing 189, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 51 off 37 balls set the platform, and Nitish Rana’s 51 off 28 put the team in a good position. Sanju Samson, however, played just 19 balls for his 31 before retiring hurt with a side strain. Riyan Parag departed early thanks to Axar, but Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel kept the asking rate in check. By the time Starc returned for the final over, the Royals needed nine to win.

The Aussie looked at his best, producing five unplayable yorkers. He defended the nine‑run target and gave his side a chance to be back in this game. With the scores leveled at 188 after 20 overs, the game moved to IPL’s first Super Over of the season.
In the Super Over, the tall left-arm pacer again took the bowling duties for DC. He conceded just 11 runs with two yorkers, a slower one, and a bouncer that saw Riyan Parag run out in a mix‑up. Delhi’s chase was short with KL Rahul slamming a four and picking up a two and a single to notch seven runs. With Stubbs at the other end for support, DC completed the chase with a huge six.
Key Moments from DC vs RR, Match 32 of IPL 2025
1. Mitchell Starc plays a big role in DC's thrilling Super-Over win:
Mitchell Starc produced a masterclass in death bowling to guide the Capitals to a Super Over win against the Royals. With RR needing just nine runs in the final over of their chase, Starc put all his experience to use and delivered big time. He nailed yorkers under pressure, conceding only eight runs and creating a run-out chance on the final ball to push the game into a Super Over. In the Super Over, RR started strong, racing to 10/0 after three balls. But Starc bounced back. First was Riyan Parag's run out following a mix-up and then, next ball, another run-out—this time Yashasvi Jaiswal caught short thanks to a brilliant throw from Jake Fraser-McGurk and Starc’s finish at the stumps. He was also awarded the Player of the Match award for his spell.
2. Sanju Samson retire hurts, gives major injury scare
RR captain Sanju Samson suffered a new injury scare during the chase. Samson, who was batting at 31 off 19 balls, pulled up some pain while trying to cut leg-spinner Vipraj Nigam in the sixth over. Clutching his left side near the ribs, he called the physio and took a painkiller tablet. Despite resuming batting, the right-hand batter looked uncomfortable on the very next delivery and walked off retired hurt after another painful attempt at a big shot. The Kerala batter had earlier missed matches due to a finger fracture sustained during the England T20Is. He had also undergone surgery and started IPL 2025 purely as a batter.
3. Abhishek-Rahul act as crisis managers
The Capitals began their innings with disappointment, losing both Jake Fraser-McGurk and Karun Nair inside four overs. But Abishek Porel and KL Rahul stitched together a stand that held the team back. The young Porel began by smashing 23 runs off Tushar Deshpande’s over, including a flick for six. Despite being pushed back by Jofra Archer’s pace, Porel kept playing his shots and reached 49 off 37 balls before falling to Wanindu Hasaranga. Rahul started slowly, scoring 17 off 18, and adapted well to the pitch, finishing with 38 off 32 balls. His two sixes off Deshpande and Maheesh Theekshana gave DC a much-needed lift.
