After a topsy-turvy batting performance, Delhi Capitals have posted 188/5 in Match No. 32 of the IPL 2025 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Rajasthan Royals, who opted to bowl first after winning the toss and now need 189 runs to secure just their third win of the season.
It wasn’t easy for the Capitals after being put into bat. Jake Fraser-McGurk, who is yet to find form this season, once again fell cheaply, caught at mid-off for nine. Furthermore, last match’s star Karun Nair was run out for a duck due to a horrible mix-up with Abishek Porel.
But KL Rahul and Porel made sure to capitalise on the middle overs. The duo added a 61-run stand for the third wicket and kept the scoreboard ticking. Rahul tried to shift gears on a slightly dry pitch, but couldn’t accelerate at the rate he would’ve liked. He eventually mistimed a pull off Jofra Archer to depart for 38 off 32 balls.

Porel earlier smashed Tushar Deshpande for 23 runs in a single over. Unfortunately, he missed out on a well-deserved half-century, dismissed for 49 while attempting to go big against Wanindu Hasaranga.
At 106/4 after 14 overs, Delhi needed a strong finish. That’s when skipper Axar Patel played a crucial cameo of 34 runs off just 14 balls. He took on both Sri Lankan spinners, Theekshana and Hasaranga, and laced his innings with four boundaries and two sixes. The final push came from Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma, with some help from poor bowling in the last over. For RR, the Sri Lankan duo shared two wickets between them, with Archer finishing with 2/32.
