During the IPL 2025 game currently in progress between RR and KKR at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium located in Guwahati, RR was the first to take the field and managed to accumulate 151 runs for 9 in the 20 overs they faced.

The RR innings commenced with their top players failing to perform against KKR’s already excellent, disciplined bowling. Yashasvi Jaiswal managed to pitch in with 29 runs but, like most members of the team, had to face consistent loss of wickets at crucial stages. Dhruv Jurel came to the rescue and scored 33 runs off 28 balls. Towards the end, Jofra Archer scored 16 runs of 7 balls, hit two sixes which greatly facilitated RR’s efforts in surpassing the 150 mark.

KKR’s Mohun Bagan mitigated the damage caused by RR's batter using a series of well-coordinated tactics. The use of spin by Varun Chakravarthy and Moeen Ali during the middle overs was particularly effective as both of them made 2 dismissals and stressed the already trembling RR batting order. Even Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Aroa, Robi’s Aces, took full control of the situation and captured 2 wickets each, ensuring that RR wasn’t able to form sizeable associations.

KKR fans were disappointed at Srinul Narine’s absence due to illness, which forced Keane to spend another exclusive gaze in Webster since Joseph was away due to similar circumstances.

KKR’s bowling unit executed their roles with a high degree of coordination. Spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Moeen Ali were highly impactful in the middle overs, each taking two wickets, which further pushed RR's batting order back. Pace bowlers Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora also did well, each taking two wickets as RR's batting innings progressed, thus preventing RR from building substantial partnerships.

KKR's veteran all-rounder Sunil Narine missed this match due to illness, which opened up a spot for Ali in the playing XI. The matches played previously between RR and KKR have tilted both ways. Coming into this match, these two sides had met each other 30 times before in the IPL, with both having 14 wins and 2 matches which ended in a tie.

Both sides came into this match still searching for their first win during the IPL 2025 season after both teams lost their opening matches. This made the game interesting as both teams needed to settle into the tournament.

After Rajasthan Royals set a target of 152 runs, Kolkata Knight Riders will now shift their focus on to chase down the total to win the clash.
