IPL 2025: Hardik Pandya says Mumbai Indians has always been his "favourite team"

Hardik also revealed that he had a wallpaper of MI legends Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh and Lasith Malinga on his phone.

During a recent interaction, star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has opened up on the love he holds for IPL franchise Mumbai Indians. Pandya, has been a part of four out of five title-winning campaigns for Mumbai Indians has extolled the way the team has carried itself over the years. He also mentioned his favourite players who have represented the side in the past.

Hardik, who is currently the captain for Mumbai, mentioned that he had a wallpaper of legendary players like Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh and Lasith Malinga on his mobile phone before joining the forces together. The Baroda all-rounder has also gone onto shower praises that MI has always been his favourite side in the Indian Premier League.

“Getting picked by Mumbai Indians was special even more because Mumbai was always my favourite team. I had a wallpaper on my phone of Sachin Tendulkar sir, Harbhajan (Singh) and I think Mali’s (Lasith Malinga) face was there so always been a Mumbai fan and obviously then getting the opportunity to come and play for this franchise was even more special and obviously my journey started from there,” Hardik said via Star Sports.

Challenge against in-form RCB team

Hardik Pandya has not had a successful run as a skipper for the franchise. The Mumbai-based team has not been had a great season so far, having won only one out of the four games they have played so far. The next match Mumbai Indians will be playing against is one of their biggest rivals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The match will be taking place at their home ground in the iconic Wankhede Stadium on April 07.

While MI have not had a great tournament, RCB despite the loss in their last game have looked to be one of the favourites in the tournament with two wins and only one loss so far. The upcoming encounter promises to be a mouth-watering clash.
