Delhi Capitals recently unveiled former English cricketer and one of their ex players, Kevin Pietersen, as the mentor for the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League. The official announcement was made by the franchise via their socials on Thursday, February 27. This comes a little over three weeks ahead of the commencement of the 18th installment of the marquee league.

The former cricketing great is set to team up with Hemang Badani (head coach), Matthew Mott (assistant coach), Munaf Patel (bowling coach), and Venugopal Rao (Director of Cricket) behind the scenes at DC. Pietersen expressed his thrill to be re-associated with the franchise after representing them as a player for two seasons (2012 and 2014). He shared his sentiments on X, calling Delhi his "home".

Pietersen scored 305 and 294 runs in the eight and 11 games he played for DC (then Delhi Daredevils) in 2012 and 2014, respectively. His maiden ton in the IPL came in his second season with the Delhi-based franchise. Notably, he did not feature in 2013 after picking a knee injury.

"It's an exciting opportunity to step into this new role as a mentor for the Capitals. And I'm really looking forward to joining the squad, working closely with the boys, and doing everything I can to help us win that ultimate prize. I've got incredible memories of representing the Delhi franchise in the IPL, and I've been able to maintain that passion for the team even as a broadcaster over the years," divulged Pietersen in a release.
