Delhi Capitals (DC) registered a comprehensive seven-wicket win against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Visakhapatnam on Sunday, March 30, in match No. 10 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first in the afternoon fixture. However, the Orange Army had a catastrophe at the start of their innings as Abhishek Sharma was run out in the first over. Mitchell Starc dismissed Ishan Kishan, and Travis Head in the three overs he bowled inside the powerplay as SRH slumped to 37/4.
Aniket Verma resurrected the innings with Heinrich Klaasen for company. The duo played a counter-attacking brand of cricket to add 77 runs off 42 deliveries. However, after Klaasen was dismissed in the 11th over by Mohit Sharma, SRH lost two more wickets in quick succession.
Aniket hit some phenomenal strokes, as it seemed he was batting on a different pitch. There was a decent amount of turn for the spinners, and the slower balls from the pacers were also sticking to the surface. However, Aniket took the bull by the horns and amassed 74 off 41 balls. He was eventually dismissed in the 16th over.
SRH were rolled over for 163 in 18.4 overs, with Starc bagging two wickets in the backend to register his first five-for in the cash-rich league.
In reply, Delhi Capitals got off to a flying start thanks to Faf du Plessis, whose aggressive batting helped the out-of-form Jake Fraser-McGurk to bide his time at the crease. The Australian youngster was also helped by the SRH fielders, who grasped a couple of chances inside the powerplay.
Du Plessis and Fraser-McGurk aggregated 81 runs inside the first 10 overs. However, the two cricketers were dismissed in the 10th over by debutant leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari. KL Rahul came out to bat at No. 4 with a positive frame of mind and hit two fours and a six in his five-ball cameo of 15 runs. He became Ansari's third victim in the game.
Abishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs joined forces, and they took their team to victory in 16 overs after forming an unbeaten 51-run partnership off 28 balls.
