In the ongoing blockbuster Match No. 2 of the IPL 2025 clash at the Wankhede Stadium, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) skipper Rajat Patidar got a blow to his helmet grill from Hardik Pandya’s delivery. The incident, which briefly paused play for a mandatory concussion test, did little to put the RCB captain in discomfort, as he bounced back with a boundary on the very next delivery.
The incident took place during the third delivery of the 13th over in RCB's innings when Patidar, attempting a lap shot, misjudged the bounce and ended up getting hit on the grill of his helmet. However, after medical assistance, he continued to bat and found the boundary on the following delivery with good good-looking upper-cut. Notably, on the very first delivery of the over, the RCB skipper executed the lap to perfection and found the fence. The right-handed batter managed to get 11 runs in that over.
Meanwhile, the match began with the home team winning the toss and electing to field, and they were elated with the return of their spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and veteran opener Rohit Sharma. On the other hand, RCB had a disappointing start to their innings as opener Phil Salt was dismissed by Trent Boult in the very first over, walking back after scoring a boundary in the first delivery.

But Virat Kohli looked in great touch and made sure to counterattack, hitting Bumrah for a six off the very first ball he faced from the pacer. Partnering with Devdutt Padikkal (37 off 22), Kohli stitched together a 91-run stand. The duo of Kohli and Patidar has kept the scoring rate healthy at over 10 an over. At the end of 17 overs, RCB's scorecard read 192/4, with Patidar and Jitesh Sharma at the crease, hoping to get the total past 220 runs.
