Gujarat Titans emerged victorious over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Match 14 of the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday, April 2.
GT dominated the powerplay with RCB losing three wickets during the phase of the first innings. Mohammed Siraj rocked the Chinnaswamy by dismissing Devdutt Padikkal and Phil Salt. Rajat Patidar was dismissed for a run-a-ball score by Ishant Sharma two balls after the powerplay had concluded.
Liam Livingstone recovered well from a laggard start to end up registering his seventh IPL half-century. At one point, the batting all-rounder had garnered only 24 runs off 28 deliveries. While Sai Kishore ended up with miserly figures of 2/22 in his allotted quota, ace leg-spinner Rashid Khan ended up wicketless, conceding 54 in four overs.
Chasing a target of 170, GT started off quite cautiously. They scored only 42 runs in the first six. There was a space of almost eight overs between the fall of the first and second wickets of Shubman Gill and Sudharsan, respectively. The latter departed for a well-paced 49.
From that point onwards, the proceedings were masterfully controlled by Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford. They never let the opposition bowlers back in the game. Buttler and Rutherford ended up unbeaten on 73 and 30, respectively. Apart from Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yash Dayal, every other bowler was smashed around the park.

Key Moments from RCB vs GT, Match 14 of IPL 2025
1. Mohammed Siraj exacts perfect revenge on Phil Salt
After being clobbered for a massive 105-metre maximum on the third delivery of the fourth over by a dangerous-looking Salt, Siraj came back with the most formidable reply. The speedster rattled Salt's stumps all over the place to send him back to the pavilion.

2. Liam Livingstone pummels Rashid Khan for three maximums in an over
The 18th over was when Livingstone went all guns blazing to dispatch Rashid for three maximums in the entire over. All three of the hits were more or less struck towards the same deep backward square leg region, providing RCB with much-needed impetus towards the business end.

3. Jos Buttler, Sherfane Rutherford combine to wrap up the job
It never really seemed as if the duo of Buttler and Rutherford had any issues while plying their trade in the middle. Their unbeaten 63-run partnership off 32 deliveries provided was just what GT required to ace the chase.
