IPL 2025: Rishabh Pant condemns fake news over potential move to RCB

Star keeper-batter Rishabh Pant called out an X user for spreading fake news on the social media platform. Without citing any particular source, the social media user claimed that Pant’s management enquired about the captaincy prospect in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) next season, but he eventually denied it. Moreover, he also took a dig at the senior batter, Virat Kohli, deeming it as a political agenda.
Pant strongly condemned the act and darted back by asking the 'X' user to be more sensible while sharing such news. He advised for not to create an untrustworthy environment and asked the concerned person to cross-verify with reliable sources. The Haridwar-born cricketer claimed that the situation was getting worse with each passing day and added that a lot of people are spreading misinformation on social media.
“Fake news. Why do you guys spread so much fake news on social media. Be sensible guys so bad. Don’t create untrustworthy environment for no reason. It’s not the first time and won’t be last but I had to put this out .please always re check with your so called sources. Everyday it’s becoming worst . Rest it’s upto you guys . It’s wasn’t just for you it’s for a lot for people who is spreading misinformation. Tc,” Pant tweeted.

Pant likely to continue with Delhi Capitals
After the completion of the 2024 edition of the tournament, there were talks of Rishabh Pant switching to Chennai Super Kings for the next season. He was believed to replace MS Dhoni in the team but as per recent reports, Pant is deemed to be Delhi’s first retention ahead of IPL 2025 and will continue as the captain.

Notably, after a major car accident in December 2022, Pant returned to professional cricket during IPL 2024. He scored 446 runs in 13 matches, which helped the cricketer earn a call-up in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2024. He did well in the tournament as India went on to win the trophy. Recently, he made his comeback in Test cricket and scored a century against Bangladesh, in Chennai.
