The defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) posted a commanding total of 204 runs against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. The final over of the innings turned out to be a spectacle as DC’s left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc delivered the final over.

On the first ball of the over, the left-handed bowler bowled a full toss to Andre Russell and launched it straight down the ground for a massive 106-metre six. The second delivery was a slower one that was called wide by the umpire. DC was led by stand-in skipper Faf du Plessis and went for a review, but lost it as the ball was wide.

The next delivery was again to the Jamaican, and signalled as wide again by the umpire but DC reviewed it once more. This time the replays showed the ball hitting the pads, and it was ruled as leg byes.

On the third ball, the Australian pacer bowled a full-length ball to Rovman Powell, who missed it and was trapped on the back pad. Powell went for a review, but the ball tracking showed three reds, and he was dismissed LBW.

The fourth delivery to Anukul Roy saw a strong connection, and the ball looked like a comfortable six, but Dushmantha Chameera pulled off a stunning catch near the boundary.

With two wickets in two balls, Starc was on a hat-trick. The fifth ball was bowled to Harshit Rana, and he missed it. Then Russell tried to steal a quick single. However, the wicketkeeper Abishek Porel hit the stumps directly, and the West Indies batter was run out. DC went for a review, thinking there was an edge, but UltraEdge showed no contact with the bat. In the end, it turned out to be a team hat-trick for DC.

DC picked up 9 wickets in their 20 overs. With a strong total to chase, DC will look to win the match in front of their home crowd, while KKR must win to stay in the playoff race for IPL 2025.
