Hanuma Vihari recently gave his opinion on Jitesh Sharma's overturned dismissal during the match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2025. The former SRH batter took to his social media and felt the need for a rule change to avoid a potential controversy in the future.
The Indian batter analyzed the sequence and looked at scenarios that could lead to problems in the future. Pacer Jasprit Bumrah appealed for an LBW (Leg Before Wicket dismissal) call, which was given out by the umpire. In the last ball of the match, Jitesh reviewed the decision, which turned out to be not out, as the impact of the ball was outside the off stump. As a result, RCB were handed the run they deserved. Vihari wrote about the sequence and said the decision was overturned.
"Need for a change in the rule. If you saw the last ball of RCB’s innings, Jitesh was given out on field and was reviewed, and the umpire had to overturn his decision because the impact was outside off stump," Vihari wrote on his 'X' handle.

Vihari raises concerns about overturned decisions in different DRS scenarios
The experienced batter felt the problem was that the batter would've stayed out and there would be no run if the decision wasn't overturned. He claimed that if the umpire had not given it out, the run would've counted. He looked at a potential scenario where the decision could have had a massive impact on the result of the match.

Vihari wondered about a scenario where the chasing team needed two runs on the last ball of the match and the umpire gave a decision in favour of the bowling side. He felt such a decision could determine the entire result of a match, and potentially a tournament. Vihari felt it would be worth discussing the rule that could make it happen.
"The problem is that the run wouldn’t count. If the umpire had not given it out, the run would’ve counted. What if it’s the second innings and 2 needed of 1 ball? The result of the match would’ve been determined by the decision of the umpire. Food for thought?" Vihari concluded.
