After being dropped from the Indian team, fast bowler Ishant Sharma looked at his vintage best in the IPL 2023. Ever since the tournament ended, the 35-year-old has been spending quality time with his family and is all set to welcome his first child wife Pratima Singh. Sharing the exciting news with their fans, the couple shared photographs from their baby shower. The duo looked adorable being surrounded by their friends and family holding placards saying ‘Mom and Dad to be’.

Delhi Capitals also congratulated the couple and wrote, “Coming Soon - A new addition to our DC family 🤩 Congratulations @ishant.sharma29 and @pratima0808 🙌 #YehHaiNayiDilli.”

Notably, Ishant tied the knot with Pratima in December 2016. Like her husband, Pratima also hails from the sporting world having represented the Indian basketball team at various International events including Asian Games. She’s also the former captain of the Indian women’s basketball team.

Meanwhile, in the recent IPL 2023, Ishant finished as the second-highest wicket-taker of the season for Delhi Capitals as he scalped ten wickets from eight matches at an average of 20.60 and an economy of 20.60. His last international appearance came during the first Test vs New Zealand in Kanpur in November 2021.

Sharma went wicketless during the game after bowling 22 overs and was not included in the playing XI on the following tour to South Africa. The fast bowler was finally dropped from the team in February 2022 as he found himself out of the squad for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka at home.

Ishant Sharma bowled India to a historic Test win at Lord's in 2014

The Delhi-born seamer is the joint second-highest wicket-taker for India in Tests among seamers with 311 wickets to his name from 105 matches at an average of 32.40. His best bowling performance of 7/74 helped India win just their second Test at Lord’s after a gap of 28 years on July 21, 2014. The towering seamer used his height to full advantage and bounced out English batters to etch his name on the coveted honour’s board.

Apart from that, Ishant also scripted a miraculous win for India in the 2013 Champions Trophy final with his spell of 2/36 in four overs.
