Youngster Ravi Bishnoi has been a force to reckon with in the shortest format of the game. He has a stellar record in T20I cricket and even in the recently concluded five-match series against Australia, Bishnoi picked up nine wickets in five matches and finished as the leading wicket-taker. Courtesy of the same, the 23-year-old climbed up the ladder and became the number one ranked bowler in T20I cricket.

Ahead of his next challenge in South Africa, Bishnoi stated that he never dreamt of becoming the number 1 bowler. The leg-spinner added that it’s an out-of-the-world feeling and is aiming to continue with the momentum to help the team win.

“It is an out-of-the-world feeling. To become the number one bowler, I never dreamt of this. Now that I’m there, I’m feeling good about it and I hope to continue performing for the team and helping the team win,” Bishnoi said in a video released by the Indian Cricket Team on Instagram.

I am enjoying my journey now: Bishnoi

Recalling his journey so far in international cricket, Bishnoi harked back at the good times as he played an important part in helping India win gold in the Asian Games 2023. The Rajasthan-born cricketer acknowledged that there were a lot of ups and downs in his short career but he is enjoying his cricket at the moment.

“I debuted on February 15 and the journey has had its ups and downs but the last 1-1.5 years have been good since I got to play some good games, played in the Asian Games and Asia Cup as well. I hope I get more opportunities in the future. My recent performances are a result of my hard work for the last 5-6 years. However, I am enjoying my journey now,” Bishnoi concluded.

Notably, Bishnoi is a key part of the national team at the moment. He is more or less confirmed for the upcoming T20 World Cup but the leg-spinner can’t drop his guard as a lot of quality spinners are in the mix. Yuzvendra Chahal is aiming for a return to the T20I side as well and hence, Bishnoi will have to be extremely consistent in the upcoming few months.
