India took on Bangladesh in their ICC T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up game on June 1, at the Nassau County Stadium, in New York. Team India won the toss and opted to bat first. India as per their plans saw some batters explode and others just chipping around.

At one stage, the Men in Blue were 159/4 when Ravindra Jadeja joined Hardik Pandya at the crease in the 17th over. But the very first ball Jadeja faced proved to be catastrophic. Tanvir Islam bowled a fuller delivery and Jadeja looked for a slog and missed. He was right on the crease line before the ball was bowled and remained there after the shot.

The wicket-keeper collected the ball and dislodged the stumps as the batter was caught short of the ground. To the bowler’s dismay camera angles could not hold him accountable for crossing the line and was given not out. Sanjay Manjrekar on air joked that it looked out and he might have to shut up just because it is Jadeja in question.

"It looks out from here, but it's Jadeja batting, so I better shut up,” said Manjrekar on air.

Manjrekar, Jadeja share a lukewarm relationship

Notably, Ravindra Jadeja and Sanjay Manjrekar share a lukewarm relationship as the cricketer turned commentator received much flak after terming the all-rounder "bits and pieces" player. The statement came in the light of discussing Jadeja’s place in the ODI team. The southpaw was having a dismal run in the 50-over format and Manjrekar highlighted the aspect and termed him as pure bowler in Tests rather than ODI.

"I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50-over cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner,” Manjrekar had said during the 2019 ODI World Cup.

Jadeja was quick to reply as he took to Twitter (now X) and wrote: "Still I have played twice the number of matches you have played and I'm still playing. Learn to respect ppl who have achieved. I have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea."
