On the upcoming World Heritage Day, April 18, an exciting new addition is set to grace the Nahargarh Jaipur Wax Museum: a wax depiction of the renowned cricketer and former Indian captain, Virat Kohli.
The unveiling of the wax statue's initial look has generated buzz among cricket fans and wax museum enthusiasts alike. "Last year, there was a demand to make a statue of Virat Kohli from tourists, especially kids and youth who are crazy about the Delhi opener. Now that Virat has also become a sports icon for children and youth, what could be a better occasion than now when he has reached the highest level in world cricket, to install his wax statue. So, we also decided after batting great Sachin Tendulkar and former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, a wax figure would be created for Virat," Anup Srivastava, Founder-Director of Jaipur Wax Museum said as quoted by ETV Bharat.
The intricate artistry involved in crafting the wax statue, meticulously sculpted over about two months by artisans Ganesh and Lakshmi, has resulted in a realistic portrayal of the cricketer. Standing at 5 feet 9 inches and weighing 35 kilograms, the statue captures Kohli's commanding presence on the cricket field. The attire worn by the wax figure has been specially designed by Bollywood designer Bodh Singh, adding a touch of elegance to the exhibit.
Srivastava disclosed that Kohli's wax statue will be the 44th addition to the museum's prestigious collection, housed within the historic walls of a nearly 300-year-old fort. As excitement builds for the unveiling, cricket enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the chance to admire the wax tribute to one of India's cricketing icons, a testament to Kohli's enduring legacy both on and off the field.
