Jasprit Bumrah sustained a back injury during Australia tour

Bumrah’s exceptional form saw him excel in white-ball cricket as well, where he played an important role in India’s T20 World Cup title-winning campaign in the USA and West Indies. He was named the ‘Player of the Tournament’ after taking 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 and an economy rate of just 4.17, leading the side to their second T20 World Cup title. His heroics also earned him a spot in both the ICC Men's Test Team of the Year and the ICC Men's T20I Team of the Year.

Bumrah's absence from the Champions Trophy 2025 has been a significant setback for the Men in Blue. The pacer sustained a back injury during the fifth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in Sydney, which ruled him out of the marquee event.

Following the injury, he was told to undergo rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Despite being named in India’s provisional Champions Trophy squad, he was officially ruled out before the tournament began. However, the Ahmedabad-born made a surprise visit to Dubai, where he was seen interacting with teammates and ICC chairman Jay Shah. The 31-year-old was at the venue to cheer for his side from the stands.
