India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is currently undergoing match-simulation workloads at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Bumrah is gearing up for his much-awaited return to competitive cricket and is likely to return for the forthcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Mumbai Indians.

The ace pacer has not played competitive cricket since September 2022 as he was ruled out with a back injury. Bumrah featured against Australia at home in September but was ruled out of the South Africa series as well as the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia despite being named in the squad.

Since then, the bowler has been on the sidelines and is yet to receive clearance from the NCA. Bumrah is currently undergoing match-stimulation workloads at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore to acclimatize with the game and obtain the green signal from the NCA.

India eyeing for WTC Final spot

Meanwhile, team India are facing Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the four-match series. Rohit Sharma and Co. are also on the verge of cementing a place in the summit clash of the ICC World Test Championship final, as a win in either of the last two Tests against Australia will see India sail through to the finals of the global event.

Meanwhile, the visitors have failed to win a Test series on Indian soil since the 2004-05 season. As Rohit and Co. have retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the Aussies will be raring to obtain results in their favour in the third and forth Test matches. Following the Test series, the two cricketing powerhouses will engage in a three-match ODI series, scheduled to begin on March 17.
