‘Jewel for Indian cricket’ - Ravi Shastri heaps praise on Dhruv Jurel after mature knock against LSG

Rajasthan Royals continued their winning run in the ongoing IPL (Indian Premier League) 2024 with a seven-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants on April 27. Having played nine games so far, Royals have eight wins and sit at the top of the table with 16 points.

Chasing 197, Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel made sure the Royal breeze past Lucknow. It proved to be a special day for Jure, as after a flurry of subpar showings, the youngster came on his own and scored an unbeaten 52 runs in 34 deliveries. 

The performance impressed former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri, who took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and lauded Jurel for his performance, branding him as a jewel for Indian cricket. “This Jurel is a Jewel for Indian cricket. Right now and going ahead into the future. Serious Dude,” Shastri posted.

Rajasthan Royals inch closer to playoff spot

Speaking of Rajasthan Royals, the side has been in impeccable form in the tournament. Currently, Royals sit atop the IPL 2024 standings with 16 points to their name in nine matches and have nearly sealed their spot for the playoffs.

After their win against Lucknow, Royals will now shift their focus to the upcoming game against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday, May 2. Hyderabad currently sit in third place in the standings and have not faced the table-toppers yet this season. Pat Cummins and co. have also had a brilliant run in the tournament, having won five of their eight games in the season.
