'Jumps around like a pigeon, makes appeal every other ball' - Umpire Anil Chaudhary's hilarious take on Mohammad Rizwan

Experienced Indian umpire Anil Chaudhary took a harmless dig at Mohammad Rizwan for the wicketkeeper-batter's antics behind the stumps.

Wicketkeepers are generally known to be animated characters, especially when they are donning the gloves, and Rizwan is no different. The Pakistani wicketkeeper is one of the best batters for the Men in Green in modern-day cricket. He also has the ability to take stunning catches behind the stumps. However, his habit of appealing too often has also caught the attention of cricket enthusiasts and drawn him criticism as well.

Chaudhary was recently asked about Rizwan's tendency to appeal every now and then during the matches. The 59-year-old compared the Peshawar-born to a pigeon for his style of appealing.

"Yes, I have officiated in the Asia Cup," Chaudhary said upon being asked whether he has umpired in matches where Rizwan was in action during an interview on the 2 Sloggers YouTube channel.

"Let him keep on appealing. I warned the other umpire that he keeps on appealing. Stay aware. There was a tight appeal and he thought he was going to give it out but he told me, 'I remembered, you told him to stay aware it (Rizwan's appeals).' It eventually was not out. He keeps appealing every ball. Isn't he the guy who applies something like a lipstick [cream]? He keeps jumping around like a pigeon," Chaudhary said.

Meanwhile, Rizwan scored a fantastic century in the ongoing first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi. In the first innings, the 32-year-old came out to bat when the hosts were in a spot of bother at 114/4. However, he showed excellent grit and determination during his unbeaten knock of 171 off 239 balls, hitting 11 fours and three sixes. Vice-captain Saud Shakeel also slammed 141 as Pakistan declared for 448/6. In reply, Bangladesh were bowled out for 565 on Day 4 after Mushfiqur Rahim top-scored with a 341-ball 191.
